Jamaica

grand lido Negril - frequently asked questions

Q: How many days do we need to be at the hotel before we can get married?
A: The Bride & Groom must be on island for at least 48 hours prior to their wedding date.

Q: Are weddings performed in Jamaica legal in the United States?
A: Yes.  Your marriage will be honored worldwide. You will receive a certified copy of your marriage certificate approximately 6-8 months after your wedding. The Jamaican government offers an express option that takes approximately 6-8 weeks for an additional cost of $60.00, payable to the resort.

Q: Which day of the week/time of the day can I get married?
A: Weddings are performed Monday – Saturday, from 10am to 4pm.

Q: How long does the ceremony and reception last?
A: The ceremony is approximately 15-minutes in duration.  You will then proceed to a mini reception with cake and house champagne.  Total time is approximately one hour.  (Time may vary according to your requirements.)

Q: Can I have guests join us who are not staying at the Hotel?
A: Yes.  Outside guests can join you and are required to purchase a wedding pass for the hotel.  This will give them access to all amenities on the property for that particular day (up to 8 hours) and arrangements must be made in advance.  A wedding pass is $120 per person and keep in mind children must be 16 years of age and older.  Please note a maximum of 40 off-property guests will be allowed for your wedding.

Q: How will our wedding party be seated for our reception?
A: There are a variety of options to select from.  You can choose to have a private sit-down reception with a set menu (additional per person cost will apply-minimum of 15 people).  If your group consists of no more than 10 guests total, reservations will be made for the Piacere Restaurant.  However, the largest table at this restaurant can only seat 6 guests and remaining guests will be seated at different tables close to each other.  This restaurant is closed on Monday and Fridays.

Q: Do I have to bring my own music for the ceremony?
A: No.  The hotel has a selection of music that you can choose from.  However, if you do bring your own music, we recommend that you bring it in CD format.

Q: When can I select the location of our ceremony?
A: Upon arrival at the resort.

Q: Are there any deposits required?
A: Yes. Once your wedding is confirmed, full payment of the non-refundable government fee ($200) is required.  Keep in mind the government fee will be waived on stays of 7-nights or more.

Q: Is there a penalty for canceling my wedding?
A: Yes.  The government fee (if applicable) is non-refundable.

Q: How can I find out what other options are available for my wedding?
A: Your travel professional or Ask Me Romance Expert can assist you with all the options available to personalize your wedding day.

Q. Do we have to mail the documents to you before we arrive?
A.
Yes.  Notarized documents must be received by our office at least 6 weeks prior to your travel date, to include the completed Wedding Couples Information form.  Please note all documents must be in English and do not send originals-only notarized copies.  We also recommend that you verify the documents once more with your travel professional or Ask Me Romance Expert prior to sending to ensure you have everything required.  Please note: faxed documents are not accepted and documents will not be returned.

Q: Is a blood test required for marriages in Jamaica?
A: No.

Q. Do we need to have a Passport?
A. Yes.  Passports are required for all travelers to Jamaica.

Q: What if I have additional questions not included within this section?

A: Simply call your travel professional or Ask Me Romance Expert (877-44-ASK ME) and we will be more than happy to ensure your questions are answered.
