Antigua

Jolly Beach Resort & Spa - frequently asked questions

Q: How many days do we need to be at the hotel before we can get married?
A: The great news about tying the knot in Antigua is that there is no legal residency period required – you can actually show up (with proper documentation) and decide to get married on the spot.  However, the hotel does request the Bride & Groom be on island/site for at least 1 working day prior to their wedding date, to ensure documents are appropriately processed.

Q: Are weddings performed in Antigua legal in the United States?
A: Yes.  Your marriage will be honored worldwide. Please note you are required to obtain a certified copy of your marriage certificate – Cost: US$15 per copy.

Q: Which day of the week/time of the day can I get married?
A: Weddings are performed Monday – Saturday, from 10am to 5pm, excluding Sundays and public holidays.

Q: How long does the ceremony and reception last?
A: The ceremony is approximately 15-20 minutes in duration.  You will then proceed to a mini reception.  Total time is approximately one hour.  (Time may vary according to your requirements.)

Q: How will our wedding party be seated for our reception?
A: There are a variety of options to select from.  You can choose to have a private sit-down reception with a set menu (additional per person cost will apply).  Or, the hotel will accommodate you in a restaurant.  However, wedding parties will be seated 8 per table and parties of 9 or more will be seated at separate tables/existing restaurant set-up.

Q: Do I have to bring my own music for the ceremony?
A: No.  The hotel has a selection of music that you can choose from.  However, if you do bring your own music, we recommend that you bring it in CD format.

Q: When can I select the location of our ceremony?
A: Upon arrival at the resort.  We can also make note of your initial request in your reservation, which will be confirmed upon arrival at the resort.

Q: Are there any deposits required?
A: Yes. Once your wedding is confirmed, full payment of the wedding package is required.

Q: Is there a penalty for canceling my wedding?
A: Yes.  Penalties will vary based on the season.

Q: How can I find out what other options are available for my wedding?
A: Your travel professional or Ask Me Romance Expert can assist you with all the options available to personalize your wedding day.

Q. Do we have to mail the documents to you before we arrive?
A.
No.  Documents must be carried with you to the resort.  Please note all documents must be in English and if not, they must be translated and stamped by the court, prior to arrival.  In addition, originals documents only are required.  We also recommend that you verify the documents once more with your travel professional or Ask Me Romance Expert prior to sending to ensure you have everything required.

Q: Is a blood test required for marriages in Antigua?
A: No.

Q. Do we need to have a Passport?
A. Yes.  Passports are required for all travelers to Antigua.

Q: What if I have additional questions not included within this section?
A: Simply call your travel professional or Ask Me Romance Expert (877-44-ASK ME) and we will be more than happy to ensure your questions are answered.
